Without unprecedented efforts to improve TB control in regions hardest hit by the disease, incidence is expected to climb steadily. An effective intervention exists: The DOTS strategy is when carefully implemented one of the most effective of all health interventions. However, the implementation of DOTS cannot be successful without additional and improved human resources.
The purpose of this document is to outline a strategy for management of human resources for tuberculosis control specifying the role of national TB programmes as well as the support by international organizations and agencies.
