Health and Development Initiative-India (HDI) is a not-for-profit-organisation based at Amritsar in North Indian state of Punjab. We have geared our activities to two key objectives:
  • contributing towards tuberculosis control in India and its interaction with the HIV pandemic and,
  • promotion of Rational Drug Use amongst health care providers

HDI is a partner of the Stop TB Initiative launched by WHO.

The organisation brings out two publications, TB News from India (an E-mail based newsletter) and Drug Panorama (an independent drug bulletin), available in print form as well as on our web site.

Our website is updated regularly. It provides information to health care providers and public about HIV/AIDS, Sexually Transmitted Diseases and Tuberculosis. It also provides links to web based distance learning resources. Links to tools for building personal skills and organizing training programmes for management of TB control programmes are also available.

We are engaged in advocating the cause of TB control in India amongst social, political leaders and administrators through personal meetings, media and other communication channels.

We have an elementary field research unit which carries out surveys, focus group discussions from time to time.
